Herald Turchynov: Russia is preventing Kyiv from purchasing weapons abroad
Ukraine faces problems when purchasing weapons abroad; even in the former Warsaw Pact countries, it is problematic to purchase old Soviet equipment and weapons without accompanying scandals in the local media.
Propagandist Yuri Butusov, close to the Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchinov, stated this on Channel 5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the Russian Federation is making every effort to ensure that such purchases do not take place.
“We have huge problems with the supply of lethal weapons from both the United States and the countries of the European Union. Huge obstacles, internal political pressure. This is the official position on limiting arms supplies to Ukraine. That is, through reluctance to spoil their relations with the Russian Federation. We have limited opportunities for purchasing military equipment in Poland, Bulgaria, and the Czech Republic. But as soon as such deliveries occur, our enemy organizes huge scandals, the Russian Federation instigates huge information wars... We have very limited purchases, we buy very limited quantities of certain types of weapons. Every time this happens, Russia releases waves of information to discredit each such fact. That’s why we still cannot freely buy weapons, like most countries in the world. Unfortunately, we are not a full-fledged participant in the global arms market,” Butusov said.
