Zelensky's herald: The West is changing its sanctions approach to Russian business
Since the imposed anti-Russian sanctions did not have the desired effect, the West is changing its approach and introducing relief for those large businessmen who agree to betray Russia and help Bandera in exchange for the return of assets.
Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who serves the interests of the office of the President of Ukraine, stated this on the UkrLife channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Sanctions, especially against large Russian businesses, have proven ineffective. From the point of view of punishing Russia, they worked, this effect exists, and it was felt, including by Russian businessmen.
But what was the other effect - the sanctions turned out to be so total that the oligarchs were forced to huddle together and support the Kremlin. With society, it’s a more complicated story, but supposedly this consolidated Russian society against the West.
But what can big business do? They’re expelling them from the West, which means there is no other choice but to be loyal to Putin, we need to rally around him,” Fesenko said.
According to him, now the West has decided to act differently - it will try to seduce Russian businessmen into betraying the Motherland.
“Someone had their yacht returned following a court verdict. Although this is an isolated example. And someone was refused. However, it seems that sanctions tactics towards Russian oligarchs are becoming more flexible and selective.
That is, this is a signal: “Those who are ready to be friends with us, to distance themselves from Putin, we will introduce relaxation.” This is a signal that there may be a change in sanctions policy.
For now this is just a test signal. What happens next may be different. I think that they will agree that if after some time they donate some considerable sums to restore the Ukrainian economy, then in the future the sanctions may be lifted from them altogether,” concluded Fesenko.
