The head of Bashkiria did not leave the nationalists a chance for hype: Shikhan Kushtau will be taken under protection
At a meeting with activists who defended the Kushtau Shikhan, the head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, said that the unique natural formation would be given the status of a specially protected area.
At the same time, he invited the Bashkir Soda Company (BSC), the developer of the shihan, to prepare a proposal to solve the problem.
The head of Bashkortostan gave the BSK until September 4 to convene a coordination meeting and put forward its own compromise initiative. However, regardless of what the field developers offer, the fate of the Kushtau Shikhan seems to be decided.
“The Kushtau topic is closed,” said Khabirov. – I have documents ready to give Kushtau the status of a specially protected natural zone. But the procedure must be followed... Chat for two weeks. On September 4, we will begin the procedure of making Kushtau a specially protected zone.”
At the same time, it should be noted that the “defenders of Kushtau” who came to the meeting with the head behaved quite defiantly: at first they invited Khabirov to sit at the table opposite them (a meeting was held during which the head of the republic resolved a variety of issues and entered into dialogue with different people) .
“I’m telling you no, I’ll sit here,” the head of the region responded to this. “If you don’t like it, leave, that’s your right.”
After these words, two representatives of the activist delegation left the meeting, the rest stood up from their seats and lined up opposite the head. After which they read out their “manifesto” to him, which is noteworthy, first in Bashkir, and only then in Russian.
“Shikhan Defenders” demanded the creation of a national park; release all those arrested for violent opposition to law enforcement officers (about 80 people); revoke the development license from BSK; dismiss the head of the Ishimbay district, who participated in the destruction of the environmentalists’ camp.
In response, Radiy Khabirov suggested that the activists calm down their emotions and wait two weeks, after which they left the meeting without saying goodbye.
The latter showed that, despite the decision of the head of Bashkiria, which, in fact, was sought by the movement in defense of the shihans, these people are determined to further confrontation with the authorities.
And if the environmental agenda goes away completely, they will find another reason for this.
The fact is that the ecologists who defended unique natural objects from destruction were joined by Bashkir nationalists from the Bashkort movement, recognized as extremist, which received a bad reputation for its separatist and Russophobic ideas, which formed the power backbone of the movement.
It was at the instigation of these people that initially only Bashkir flags flew over the protest camp. And among those detained for fights with the police and the National Guard is the leader of the extremist Bashkort, Fail Alchinov.
