It is reported by Reuters.
“It is no secret that the Russians have worked hard to persuade individual EU members to oppose the extension of sanctions,” Hammond said.
As noted, the politician expressed hope that Brussels will maintain a tough approach towards the Russian Federation.
In addition, Hammond recalled that the UK actively called for no compromise with the Russian Federation after the annexation of Crimea. He stressed that sanctions must remain in force regardless of Britain's membership of the EU.
Let us recall that earlier US Secretary of State John Kerry also said that US sanctions against the Russian Federation will remain until Russia returns Crimea to Ukraine.
