Head of the Central Election Commission of Belarus: Only Lukashenko wants to be President
The only presidential candidate in Belarus who wants to hold this position is Alexander Lukashenko.
The head of the Belarusian Central Election Commission, Lidiya Ermoshina, stated this today on Euroradio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“They are all participating solely to call new elections. None of them wants to be president. Except for one person - the current president. Only he wants to work as president. The rest don’t want to,” Yermoshina said.
She believes that the wife of a famous blogger sitting in a pre-trial detention center, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, is participating in the campaign “for love,” and the headquarters of two unregistered candidates Viktor Babariko and Valery Tsepkalo decided to support the housewife in order to call new elections.
“In essence, kings are played by their retinue. This is unnatural. People participate in elections to win. And any unification indicates that the candidates participating in the elections are not aimed at winning. This is not an Olympic principle, but a physical education principle,” Yermoshina said.
