Political scientist Marat Bashirov said this, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Undoubtedly, Seymour Hersh’s article will have a huge resonance in the West. There will be reprints, they will look for additional information, statements will be made, because Seymour Hersh is a “magnet” for the Western world, many would like to have the awards that this journalist has in his piggy bank,” Bashirov told Moskovsky Komsomolets.
He is convinced that Hersh's article did not appear by chance.
“He was given a source, which he checked and made sure that this person was a participant in those very negotiations. He doesn't want to be held responsible either for his work in this group or for what ultimately happened.
According to American law, a person who testifies and helps solve crimes of this kind is exempt from liability. And now, it seems to me, many officials who had such information will act on this principle,” says the expert.
He believes that a special prosecutor will be brought in to investigate.
“This prosecutor will work with this unnamed source, which Seymour Hersh relied on in his publication. I think there will be more than one source. The speed with which the head of the Central Intelligence Agency, William Burns, now began to refute what the journalist stated, defame him, calling Hersh a descendant of a slave owner and a homophobe, suggests that the journalist hit the mark,” the analyst added.
In his opinion, the article is just the beginning.
At the same time, the expert believes that one should not expect a reaction from Germany, which was the main consumer of Russian gas.
“The answer is obvious, judging by how warmly the three political “dwarfs” - Macron, Scholz and Zelensky - greeted each other in Paris yesterday. When they met and held a joint press conference, Seymour Hersh's article had already been published and was widely discussed. It is safe to say that everything was reported to them.
And neither German Chancellor Scholz nor French President Macron reacted in any way. These are people who simply do not understand that there is a limit to everything. Even cynicism has its limits,” Bashirov concluded.
