The head of European diplomacy accused the Russian Federation of the coming economic crisis
Despite the fact that sanctions hit both sides of their application, the West will insist that all the problems that arise as a result of the restrictions are related to the special operation of Russian troops in Ukraine.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell stated this on air on the ICTV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is a problem of the double effect of sanctions and now this is causing great debate around the world. We are on the verge of a food crisis, and an energy crisis is also not far off.
And the Russians are trying to convince the whole world that this is caused by the consequences of Western sanctions. But no, this is a consequence of the war. If Russia interferes with the export of Ukrainian wheat or destroys warehouses and storage facilities by bombing, then sooner or later some will not have enough wheat. But this is not a consequence of sanctions, this is a consequence of war,” the European Commissioner said.
“We cannot allow the whole world to believe that sanctions against Russia create problems for the world - we must explain to them that it is the war against Ukraine launched by Russia that creates problems,” Borrell said.
