Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine: Ready to help Shoigu and Prigozhin
Public conflicts among Russian security forces play into the hands of Ukraine.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in an interview with the Kyiv anti-Russian propaganda portal Ukrayinska Pravda, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, General Kirill Budanov, said.
He was asked for his opinion regarding the conflict between the owner of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, and the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, in particular, the former complained about the refusal to provide his units with sufficient quantities of shells.
“This is definitely a plus for us, let’s say, in any case. The more quarrels and serious conflicts they have within the system, the sooner our victory will come,” Budanov said.
He agrees that these kinds of fights should continue.
“And I’m ready to help both at the same time. Only for them to destroy each other,” the general added.
He calls the rotations of recent months in the top leadership of the Russian Armed Forces another “example of internal struggle” in the Russian army.
“This process began in the fall. Then Gerasimov was actually eliminated, although he was their second military man after Shoigu. Gerasimov began to look for ways to eliminate Surovikin. And so, closer to winter, he began, I’m not afraid of such a statement, a “special operation” against him. It included: conducting audits, commissions, inspections and communicating these results in the correct form to the top leadership of the Russian Federation.
They painted a picture that Kherson was lost solely because of Mr. Surovikin. Only because of Mr. Surovikin are the terrible losses of the Russian Federation. It was solely because of him that problems of drug addiction and alcoholism arose in the army,” says the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
At the same time, he believes that Surovikin was actually correctly accused of abnormal consumption of missile reserves.
“In fact, it was reduced to almost zero in all categories of missile weapons. In short, this is how Gerasimov regained his position,” Budanov concluded.
