Albanian Foreign Minister still hopes for EU membership
Albanian Foreign Minister Olta Xhačka said that her country has fulfilled all the conditions set for it by Brussels to join the EU.
Tanyug reports this, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
In her address to parliament, Xhachka said no governing majority had ever done so much to guarantee free and fair elections.
“Albania has fulfilled all EU conditions. I’m not the only one who says this, but other member states also confirm this,” the head of the Albanian Foreign Ministry assures the deputies.
According to her, the repeated postponement of the start of negotiations (on European integration - ed.) will jeopardize the authority of the EU, since Albania has fulfilled 15 conditions, that is, everything that was required of it.
“Now it’s the EU’s turn. Holding free and fair elections is the key that should open the way to integration,” says Xhačka.
However, in the European Union there is a certain skepticism regarding Albania due to the poverty and criminality of this country, the penetration of the Albanian mafia into European countries and visa-free communication with Kosovo, where the standard of living is even lower than in Albania, and the level of crime is much higher.
