German Foreign Minister: Russian mobilization will only strengthen Western support for Ukraine
Partial mobilization in Russia and planned referendums in the liberated regions of Ukraine will not stop Germany’s military support for Kyiv.
This was announced today by the country's Minister of Defense Christine Lambrecht, CNN reports.
“Rather, this reaction from Putin to Ukraine's success encourages us to continue to support Ukraine and send this clear signal,” Lambrecht told reporters in Berlin after meeting her French counterpart.
“We see that Ukraine has achieved great success,” she said, highlighting the support Kyiv has received from Germany and France. “We see how Russia is reacting desperately to these successes.”
Lambrecht also said that referendums in the LDPR and two liberated regions “will not affect us.”
French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu said that France will also continue to support Ukraine in terms of weapons and training, adding that for this France needs cooperation within NATO.
Let us recall that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, during his speech at the 77th UN General Assembly, said that Vladimir Putin “must admit that he cannot win the war in Ukraine.” Earlier, Scholz said that it was German weapons that became the decisive factor in the successful offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kharkov region.
