The head of the German Foreign Ministry in Moscow abandoned bellicose statements, mentioning “shame before the peoples of the USSR”
The new German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock, who managed to make anti-Russian statements today in Moscow at a joint press conference with her Russian colleague Sergei Lavrov, clearly wanted to please.
“It was important for me to come here as soon as possible after taking office. I arrived with a thick folder of documents. It's so plump because we discuss a whole range of topics on which we have large, somewhat fundamental differences of opinion. This folder is also plump because a number of topics on which we see potential for increasing cooperation between Germany and Russia play an important role in our common European home,” said Bärbock.

“Only by growing new forests, Russia could make a huge contribution to carbon capture, but we need a reliable Russia in order to provide Europe with the gas we will need for several years to come,” Burbock said, noting the potential Russia in the field of green hydrogen production.

“Being there, as the German foreign minister, it fills me with shame and awe. Nothing can compensate for the suffering that we caused to the peoples of the USSR. Today's negotiations are somewhat difficult, but the most important thing is humility and gratitude for the readiness of people in Russia for reconciliation. We have no more important duty than to protect our peoples from war and violence,” Burbock concluded her speech.
