Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov: Well, did the Ukrainians and the EU flirt with Tyagnibok?
Yesterday's grenade explosion near the walls of the Verkhovna Rada is a consequence of the flirting of Ukrainians and the European Union with extremists.
This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a meeting with MGIMO students.

“I watched what happened in Kyiv yesterday. These are the same extremists from the Svoboda party who are guilty of these crimes - the murder of a National Guard employee, the wounding of dozens of civilians.
When there were parliamentary elections in Ukraine in 2012, and the Svoboda party, whose charter stated its commitment to the documents of Ukrainian nationalists who in 1941 declared support for Hitler’s New Order, and when Svoboda received interest that allowed it to send deputies to the Supreme Radu, the EU made a statement calling on Ukrainian politicians not to cooperate with this extremist, sharply nationalist party.
Back then, no one in Ukraine paid attention to this.
When the coup took place and Svoboda joined the coalition, we reminded our European colleagues how they felt about this association several years ago. No one denied this, but everyone convinced us that everything would be fine in Ukraine, since “Svoboda” was moving... towards the political mainstream.
Yesterday it showed the political mainstream, apparently in the understanding of Ukrainians.
In Ukraine, attempts to somehow reason with the radicals end in a conciliatory policy, and not in their renunciation of their unacceptable approaches,” Lavrov stated.
