British Foreign Secretary: “NATO will support the Western Balkans against malicious Russian activity”
At a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in the Latvian capital Riga, British Foreign Secretary Liz Tres said the Alliance would maintain stability in the Western Balkans.
At the same time, the minister assessed the assertion that NATO is provoking Russia as “false,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The British Foreign Secretary said that “Russia’s invasion of Ukraine would be a strategic mistake by Moscow.”
“We stand with our democratic friends against Russia's malicious actions,” said Liz Tres. “We will support Ukraine and stability in the Western Balkans.”
The British representative called the assertion that NATO itself is provoking Russia “false.”
In turn, US Secretary General Antony Blinken said in Riga that Russian aggression will cause “serious consequences.” And he called Russian troop movements “unusual,” adding that any Russian escalation would cause “great concern” in the United States.
