The British Foreign Minister in Kyiv assured that the West will agree to new sanctions against Russia even to the detriment of its wallet
Kyiv, May 07 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - Russia is trying to provoke a conflict in the South-East of Ukraine in order to disrupt the presidential elections scheduled by the new Ukrainian authorities for May 25. William Hague, British Foreign Secretary, stated this during his visit to Kyiv.

“There is no doubt that the elections on May 25 will be held in very tense circumstances and under unacceptable pressure. We understand perfectly well that the Russian government is trying to provoke a conflict in Eastern Ukraine in order to disrupt the elections,” he said.
Haig assured that Great Britain, as a representative of the international community, will send observers, technical support and other practical assistance to Ukraine: “I urge all Ukrainians to vote in these elections, because only in this way will the true voice of the Ukrainian people be heard.”
Hague added that the US and EU are preparing a third package of economic and financial sanctions for the Russian Federation, and they are ready to impose them if Russia continues to threaten stability in Ukraine.
“We are not saying that we will impose these sanctions only in the event of a military invasion. We will also not set a line, because Russia will be able to come to that line, but not cross it, knowing that in this way it can avoid sanctions,” the official said.
In response to a question about close trade ties between England and Russia, Mr Hague said: “Our national interest is to preserve the rules of the international order. This is more important to us than economic relations with any particular country.”
William Hague called on Russian leaders to think about the long-term effect of this crisis: “Europe is now looking for ways to reduce its energy dependence on Russia. As a consequence of its unacceptable foreign policy, Russia will soon lose its economic and political influence in the world.”
