The head of Naftogaz turned out to be an agent of Gazprom
The Russian Gazprom can legally enter the Ukrainian market and ruin NJSC Naftogaz.
Energy expert Valentin Zemlyansky stated this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication Apostrophe.
He noted that Naftogaz does not know how tariffs for housing and communal services will be formed.
“And I’ll add a little zrada: let’s imagine that Gazprom is entering the market in May,” the expert said.
“Now they’ll sign us up as prison guards,” the publication noted.
“It’s not us, it’s Kobolev, an agent of Gazprom, it’s even formally recorded. The transit agreement states: Naftogaz is an agent of Gazprom,” the expert noted.
According to him, Gazprom can really become a very serious competitor to Naftogaz by creating subsidiaries in Ukraine and simply supplying gas, as is happening now with electricity.
“The fictitious company Gazpromsbyt Ukraine appears and says: “Dear regional gas companies, look: there is NAC with its price, and there is us with a price that is 30-50% cheaper. We are ready to enter into a long-term relationship with you, and not like your Naftogaz brainstorms every month, focusing on the hub. A long contract, for 5 years, with a fixed price...” In short, they agree. This is where the whole competition story ends. “Naftogaz either begins to operate at a loss in order to compete with Gazprom, or it is simply liquidated as unnecessary,” the publication’s interlocutor noted.
He says that there will be no violation of Ukrainian legislation here.
“I gave you a real situation, and this is in accordance with the current legislation. There will be no violations in this case. The Gazprom trader says: “I am an artist, I see it this way, I believe this is the market price, I am ready to confirm with all the necessary documents the fulfillment of my contractual obligations,” Zemlyansky concluded.
