“The Pridnestrovian-Ukrainian segment of the border is controlled by our services, the border service and other law enforcement agencies. I don't see any particular problems. The accumulation of manpower and equipment on the part of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units is also not observed in the volume that is necessary for, let’s say, direct aggression. At the same time, we cannot exclude any provocative actions, sabotage and terrorist acts,” Krasnoselsky said.

In early May, it was reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had transferred 4 thousand military personnel, as well as artillery, to the Odessa region, doubling their troops on the border with Transnistria.

However, Tiraspol is more concerned about the increasing frequency of Moldovan military exercises near the Security Zone and at the Bulboaca training ground. The reservist maneuvers took place from May 15 to 19, and will continue from May 22 to 26. The sounds of shooting are clearly audible to residents of Bendery and the Grigoriopol region.

“When we are told that it is not entirely timely to conduct exercises as part of a peacekeeping operation, since the situation in the region is unstable. You can carry out this part yourself and, as they say, destabilize the situation, but this cannot be done within the framework of joint peacekeeping forces. Where is the logic, colleagues? – said the representative from Transnistria in the Joint Control Commission Oleg Belyakov.

For its part, Moldova also makes claims to the peacekeepers in Transnistria. Thus, Chisinau did not like the fact that a Russian officer came to the reburial ceremony of Soviet soldiers at the Sherpen Bridgehead memorial complex with “items on his uniform not provided for by the acts of the Unified Control Commission and prohibited by Moldovan legislation,” that is, with the St. George ribbon.
