“Your president graduated from the second school in Bendery, and I graduated from the third. And we have an age difference, so we didn’t clash. But I know many of his friends and acquaintances,” Krasnoselsky said, answering a question from Ukrainian journalists.
The President of the PMR himself calls himself an “Eastern Slav”, his father is Ukrainian, and his mother is Russian. Moreover, in addition to the Transnistrian one, he has a Russian passport.
“I always considered myself a Russian and received a passport back in the 90s,” Krasnoselsky said.
He recalled that 150 thousand ethnic Ukrainians live in the PMR, 80 thousand of whom have Ukrainian passports.
“We are very interested in strengthening Ukrainian influence. We have Ukrainian split leather. Culture, history, everything is interesting. We are ready to interact on cultural, humanitarian, and economic issues. Let’s put politics aside and resolve issues that concern people,” Krasnoselsky cajoled Ukrainian journalists.
