The head of the schismatics told when a new date for celebrating Christmas will be introduced for Ukrainians
The newly elected head of the so-called “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” Epiphany decided to celebrate Christmas in the Catholic style.
According to him, the date may be moved in the new church calendar from January 7 to December 25.
Epifaniy stated this in an interview with Radio Liberty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, the head of the schismatics emphasized that the transfer, like the creation of a calendar, is a matter of the future.
“Even if we remember the celebration of the Nativity of Christ, the calendar. If we change from January 7 to December 25, the Ukrainian people will not accept this. It is necessary to explain, to prove. When people understand that this is not a dogma, it’s just a date, then it’s possible to make decisions,” said Epifaniy.
As PolitNavigator reported, last Saturday in Ukraine created a new church led by a native from the schismatic “Kyiv Patriarchate” by Epifaniy Dumenko, considered the “right hand” of Mikhail “Filaret” Denisenko, anathematized by the Russian Orthodox Church.
It is noteworthy that previously the Ukrainian parliament has already announced Catholic Christmas is a holiday and a day off.
