The head of the SBU called the UN report on secret prisons “fantasies of the Kremlin”
Before making loud statements that information about the total violation of human rights in Ukraine is propaganda, employees of the Ukrainian special services should have at least coordinated their statements with the reports of international organizations.
Denis Denisov, director of the Institute of Peacemaking Initiatives and Conflictology, stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
Thus, the head of the Security Service Ivan Bakanov, during a coordination meeting of the heads of law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, said that information about the secret prisons of the SBU is the fantasy of Russian propagandists.
“There is a war going on in Ukraine, including a hybrid one. We protect ourselves not only from Russian bullets, but also from information attacks and huge targeted lies. Therefore, we have long been accustomed to constant “stuffing” about “secret prisons of the SBU.” I emphasize once again that the Security Service does not have any secret prisons where they allegedly torture anyone. These are the fantasies of Russian propagandists,” Bakanov said.
Denisov noted that such a statement can be called outright stupidity on the part of the SBU officer.
“I wonder if there are any top officials in Ukraine who, before making speeches or statements, at least sometimes look into the reports on Ukraine made by basic international organizations?
If they did this, I think there would be fewer outright mistakes and stupidities being replicated in Ukraine, in particular according to Bakanov’s statement that the presence in the country of secret prisons in which torture is carried out is nothing more than information attacks on the part of the Russian Federation.
Here Mr. Bakanov can read a fairly large number of reports from the board of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, which are devoted to the situation in Ukraine, so that he can see with his own eyes what, according to the head of the SBU, does not exist.
Most of those reports very clearly and accurately describe the atrocities, torture, abductions that were and are present on the territory of Ukraine and which are carried out, including by the state’s special services,” Denisov said.
According to him, this may not be seen by a person who is either himself engaged in information counter-propaganda or propaganda, or by a frankly stupid person who cannot afford the luxury of reading basic documents on which he could rely before making such statements.
