The head of the SBU revealed the scale of repressions since the beginning of the SVO
Since February 2022, the SBU has detained and charged about two thousand citizens of the country with treason, and another five thousand have been charged with collaboration.
The head of the SBU, Vasily Malyuk, stated this at a forum in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Malyuk reported on the disclosure of the work of “intelligence networks” that allegedly collaborated with Russian intelligence services.
“47 intelligence networks were identified and detained last year. About two thousand state traitors have been detained since the beginning of the war, and about five thousand collaborators. 47 intelligence networks, for your understanding, are real vipers on the body of Nenko Ukraine, these are scoundrels who worked for the enemy. Today we are not identifying individual state traitors, but are using the complex experience we have gained in the fight against organized crime.
I will give several examples of how a group of young people, residents of the Chernihiv and Kyiv regions, were preparing to fire at our Patriot air defense; they were detained immediately before carrying out these tasks, when they were already mounting attack UAVs. Prior to this, on instructions from the FSB, they had already completed the appropriate operator courses,” said the head of the SBU.
“Or the SERB agent network in Dnieper, which operated there, we documented it for a long time and eight people were detained. They all worked for the GRU General Staff and collected a large amount of information and passed it on to the enemy. They also organized rocket attacks. We all remember that terrible moment when many civilians were killed and a missile hit an ordinary residential building - this was also their work.
Today they are confessing. The largest agent network was in the Nikolaev region and consisted of 13 people. Therefore, this work continues, there are many surprises ahead,” said Malyuk.
