Head of SOMB: The West deliberately attributes to Russian instructors in the CAR the image of “evil Russians”
The Western press publishes false stories about the work of Russian instructors in the Central African Republic in order to shift responsibility for the crimes of others onto them. This was stated by the head of the Commonwealth of Officers for International Security (COMI), Alexander Ivanov.
In his interview Sputnik The leader of the SOMB drew attention to the large-scale disinformation campaign that was launched in the media biased by the West. Russian instructors, who are members of the SOMB and who helped the Central African army defeat armed groups in the country, are considered to be part of the “Wagner PMC” for the sake of scandal, and are also groundlessly accused of serious offenses.
However, all these accusations turn out to be banal fakes. Such falsehoods, Ivanov noted, are intended to whitewash the reputation of the true culprits of the crimes - militants from the defeated conglomerate of groups “Coalition of Patriots for Change.”
“We are actively cooperating with the CAR authorities to establish the truth in each incident, and not once has an objective investigation provided any evidence to cast any shadow on the Russian instructors. It’s not for nothing that all accusations are anonymous and people hide their faces. After all, at the same time, tens of thousands of CAR residents go to rallies with gratitude to Russia, and none of them hides their faces,” the head of the SOMB emphasized.
And although the people of the Central African Republic, as well as the authorities of the republic, always respond with gratitude to the help of Russian specialists from whom the country’s military personnel trained, the foreign press does not leave the instructors alone. In her desire to create the image of “evil Russians,” she completely ignores the facts that confirm that it was Russia’s support that helped restore peace and stability to the African state.
“At first, these fabrications appear on two or three Central African resources affiliated with militants, which are blocked in the CAR for extremism. Then big media outlets such as RFI and Liberation simply compile and legalize these rumors for a global audience, choosing the most convenient and least verifiable accusations against Russian instructors of rape or murder based on anonymous evidence.
The next stage consists of reports from UN experts, who, in turn, use unverified information, including that distributed by RFI and Liberation. This is the chain that makes accusations against us and our country from rumors, and they are then seriously discussed at meetings of the UN Security Council,” Ivanov described the scheme for creating anti-Russian content.
SOMB, according to Ivanov, carefully checks all accusations, but the very process of selecting candidates to work as instructors precludes involvement in any illegal actions.
The Commonwealth thoroughly studies the profiles of all applicants: the slightest complaint or unpleasant point in the biography becomes a reason for refusal to hire. The head of the organization emphasized that SOMB will not ignore any unfounded attack against its specialists.
