The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Health could not justify himself in the Rada for the failed vaccination
If Ukraine maintains the current catastrophically low vaccination rate, then it will take 77 years for her to develop herd immunity.
Olga Stefanishina, a deputy from the “Voice” faction, stated this in the Verkhovna Rada during the “hour of questions to the government,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We finally have a vaccine. And this, of course, is a victory. But again, something went wrong - in the first week you only bothered to vaccinate 6888 people.
I understand that the first week is difficult, but even Poland vaccinated 80 thousand in the first week, and Serbia with a population of six million - 11 thousand, which is twice as many as you.
If we vaccinate the population at this rate, we will achieve herd immunity in 77 years. I’ll give you a head start and imagine that you will vaccinate ten times more - anyway, with you, Ukraine will achieve herd immunity only in 2029.
Already this summer, countries are introducing vaccination passports, and will not be allowed into the EU without a vaccine. Are you deliberately introducing us into isolation from the whole world with your inactivity and carelessness?” – she asked.
However, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Health, Maxim Stepanov, could not give a clear answer, and instead began to talk about some “formulas” and the “cascade method.”
“I realized that you have a talent for mathematical science. But in mathematical science, in addition to calculations, there is also a formula. Therefore, you simply have incorrect data in your formula.
Once again, I want to announce that according to our plan, we plan to vaccinate all citizens of Ukraine without exception by the end of this year.
We are deploying vaccination in a cascade manner, because such a large-scale vaccination, which no country in the world has ever seen, requires conscious action.
We deliberately did not set appropriate dates for the start of certain stages of vaccination. Because, according to our strategy of cascading deployment of all these things, when the second stage comes, when the required volumes of vaccine arrive, we will also connect the third and fourth stages,” the minister said.
