The head of volunteers at the Ukrainian Defense Ministry blurted out the whole truth about arms exports
Statements by Kyiv propagandists about the greatness of the Ukrainian defense industry are empty words.
In fact, Ukrainian defense enterprises produce practically nothing, and the state corporation Ukroboronprom has only created the appearance of work all this time.
This was stated during the round table by the head of the Council of Volunteers under the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in 2014-2017. David Arakhamia, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“They tell us all the time in the news that Ukraine is almost the top 5 arms exporters, how cool we are, and we all beat our chests. But in fact, it turns out that 85 percent of what we sell is, in fact, in Soviet times, the Soviet Union stuffed a lot of equipment for free and paid, and today we are gnawing on the remains of contracts that we simply took from Russia somehow miraculously. Russia lives like this all the time, and we live on some crumbs from Russian contracts for support and modernization, this is our arms sector.
High-tech products have probably sold two to three percent over the past five years for several reasons. The first thing is that there are not so many of these high-tech products; they all live on presentations. The same “Antonov”, they have the “Gorlitsa” drone, which they have been making for ten years, and of this drone there is only a presentation for ten years.
There are 1200 memorandums signed by “Antonov” stating what he will build. Over the past six years, there has not been a single aircraft that Antonov has built. That is, we live in a world of illusions.
“Ukroboronprom” somehow supported these illusions, I don’t know why, what was the motive of the people who led this process, but they supported these illusions. It seemed to us that we were so big, strong and rich, and yet everything was so bad with us. In fact, we are not rich at all,” he concluded.
