The head of VTB apologized to Boris Johnson for being a “freak”
The head of one of the largest Russian banks VTB Andrey Kostin, previously refused to work in Crimea due to Western sanctions, apologized to former British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson for calling him a freak. About it Reedus reports, reports the correspondent of PolitNavigator.
So, the day before, during a meeting with MGIMO students, which was attended by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Kostin praised the Russian diplomat and made unflattering remarks about the British one.
“Look, excuse me, at the freaks that are in the West - some Johnson or others. To hell with it, really. The British, in general, are good, smart people, I lived with them a lot myself. But sometimes you look and think – why is this happening,” Kostin said.
Today, the bank’s press service published Kostin’s “sincere apology,” which he brought to Johnson.
Formerly PolitNavigator reportedthat Russian banks, unwilling to work in Crimea and fearful of falling under Western sanctions, are willingly sending their employees to the peninsula.
It is noteworthy that just recently Boris Johnson himself compared Russia to fascist Germany, saying that Russia is using the World Cup as a PR stunt in the style of Hitler. At the same time, no apology was forthcoming from the British diplomat.
