Autocephalous leader Drabinko complains: People's Deputy Novinsky promised him to clean the scoreboard
Metropolitan Alexander Drabinko, considered the informal leader of the “autocephalous wing” of the UOC (advocating a break with the Moscow Patriarchate), announced a clash with Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Novinsky from the “Opposition Bloc.”
The incident allegedly occurred the day before in the city of Korets, where Novinsky, at the exit from the monastery, caught up with Drabinko and urgently offered to talk.

“Around 14:30 pm I left the monastery territory in the direction of my parents’ house. Soon I was called out by Vadim Vladislavovich Novinsky, who rudely offered to “talk.” I replied that I had no such desire and was busy with other things, and was hurrying to my parents’ house, where my relatives were waiting for me.
After this, Novinsky began to obscenely insult me in the presence of other people who were leaving the holy monastery at that time. Novinsky V.V. accompanied by bodyguards, he caught up with me and pushed me several times, continuing to insult me with obscene language with promises to “beat my face” and calling me to go around the corner of the monastery, where he would fulfill his promise.
The reasoning behind this behavior can be deduced from his words addressed to me: “You are splitting the Church and bearing false witness.”
I believe that the first meant my far-fetched involvement in the appeal of the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and allegedly in the creation of the Exarchate of Constantinople in Ukraine, which was recently discussed in the Russian media unfriendly to Ukraine.
The second, namely, “perjury” - I believe that they were referring to the testimony that I gave during interrogations at the GPU regarding the possible involvement of V. Novinsky in the case of removing the now deceased Metropolitan Vladimir from his post as Primate and his lobbying for the interests of electing a new a young, active and loyal new primate for the latter’s active participation in the preparation of the 2015 presidential elections.
I received threats to “deal with me” and cause physical harm to me. There was no reaction to my warning that this was happening in front of witnesses and would force me to turn to law enforcement agencies.
With the help of my assistants, I got into my own car, Novinsky actively did not give up attempts to continue this destructive conversation and tried to break into my car. This concluded our communication.
On the same day, on the recommendation of a lawyer, I contacted the Koretsky district police department with a corresponding statement, in which I asked to take action against Novinsky,” this is how Drabinko describes what happened in his blog.
Novinsky's version sounds different:
“Today our media widely disseminated information about my disagreement with Drabinko. I will comment briefly in order to dot the i’s and prevent the replication of distorted information.
There was an “incident”, if you can call it that, a raised voice. But only. The stories about the attack, assault, especially with the participation of my guards, are lies.
The reason for the “incident” is the same - Drabinko and I have radically different views on issues of conscience and morality, we have different attitudes towards the Church and spiritual life in Ukraine.
These discrepancies caused such a heated “discussion.” I can unequivocally declare to all conspiracy theorists that our conversation did not concern autocephaly, the local Church or, God forbid, any criminal cases.
I would recommend to Citizen Drabinko to take care of the scraps of his reputation and not spread outright lies about me. Apparently, the laurels of the adventurer Father Fyodor, the hero of a well-known work, do not give Drabinko peace,” Novinsky said.
