The Azov leader laments that Ukraine did not turn Crimea into ruins
It would be more profitable for Ukraine to start a war with Russia in Crimea in 2014, even if this would bring casualties and destruction on the peninsula. About this on the air of the talk show “People. Hard Talk,” said Verkhovna Rada deputy Andrei Biletsky, founder of the Azov regiment.

“If the war had started in Crimea, then yes, there would have been destruction in Crimea, but it would not have come to Donetsk and Lugansk, where, after all, many more Ukrainians live.
We must understand that the clash would be with the Russian Federation. Yes, they had the Black Sea Fleet, but in the early days they had neither artillery at that time nor heavy armored vehicles. They captured the peninsula with light motorized infantry units.
Of course, the losses they would have suffered if we had started fighting them with tanks and artillery, which was more than enough in Crimea, would have been enormous. And the whole situation would look different.
This, of course, would be a direct conflict, but the world would have to admit that this is not an internal conflict, but direct aggression of the Russian Federation. Everything would be easier – both from a military and political point of view,” Biletsky said.
