The head of the “Poroshenko Church” received a call from the US Secretary of State himself
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had a telephone conversation with the head of the newly created “Orthodox Church in Ukraine” by merging two non-canonical jurisdictions, Metropolitan Epifaniy (Dumenko), expressing US support for religious freedom in Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in the official statement of Deputy Speaker of the US State Department Robert Palladino.
“Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke by phone today with the newly elected Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epifaniy, to emphasize U.S. support for religious freedoms as well as Ukrainian sovereignty,” the statement said.
In addition, Pompeo emphasized the importance of maintaining the opportunity for all Ukrainians to pray in accordance with their choice.
Let us recall that the US State Department was among the first to welcome the creation in Ukraine of a new Church controlled by the Phanar.
