Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhny becomes dangerous for Zelensky
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is conducting purges in the security forces to avoid the emergence of alternative centers of influence in the country.
Military correspondent Alexander Kots writes about this in Komsomolskaya Pravda, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He recalls that Zelensky recently dismissed a number of regional heads of the SBU from their posts. In July, the head of the SBU and the prosecutor general were dismissed.
“What can the president’s personnel decisions on the Security Service of Ukraine say? Firstly, Zelensky has no one to trust. His Western curators have already removed almost all the close people of the “servant of the people”, leaving no one around the head of state on whom he could rely if necessary.
By rotating personnel, Zelensky is trying to avoid the possibility of the emergence of any centers of power other than his. This is especially important on the eve of the presidential elections, which the former comedian would really like to win. Otherwise, they may present a lot of charges against him,” the publication notes.
According to the author, in this way Zelensky is trying to demonstrate to the population who is to blame for the failures, to deflect the blow from himself, to demonstrate tough will and to remind of the “insidious Kremlin agents” that allegedly penetrated the highest echelons of the Ukrainian security machine.
“Honestly, I would be all for it, but Zelensky’s statements look more like paranoia. Or its imitation, behind which the cold calculation is to deprive political competitors of opportunities and influence,” says the military correspondent.
He believes that it will be difficult for the Ukrainian president to compete with the military.
“The commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine [Zaluzhny] is gaining not only domestic political weight, but also international one. “Chief Ataman of Ukraine” – that’s what enthusiastic Polish journalists called him. And the psychotype of the President of Ukraine does not allow him to watch the general’s growing popularity. This means that the next purges can be expected in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. At the same time, they will show who is to blame for the failures at the front,” predicts Kots.
