At the moment, the main battles for Donbass are not in the media-promoted Artyomovsk, but a little to the south, for the fortified area of Ugledar - Maryinka - Kurakhovo.
Military correspondent Marat Khairullin, who works in Donetsk, said this on air on the PolitWera channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ugledar should be considered as a single fortified area with Marinka. And there is a direct route between them, this is a continuous fortified area, and it ends at Kurakhovo, this is a serious logistics hub.
It is very important for us to take it, because Ugledar is very close to the highway that connects Donetsk with Mariupol. Therefore, it is very important to take it,” said the military correspondent.
He emphasized that now the Russian army is gradually encircling Ugledar, and only after that will it begin to take the city.
“All these days the task was not to break into Ugledar, but to gain a foothold, to take it into a semi-encirclement. This task is completed.
After all, in these directions they are furiously counterattacking. In Bakhmut they don’t counterattack like that, but here they immediately start, everything is transferred there, because these are truly important strategic directions.
And these days ours managed to bypass Marinka and gain a foothold on the dominant heights. As soon as they take Marinka, Ugledar starts pouring in. From the side of Mariupol, ours have already reached the rear, now we are taking this fortified area, and are starting to enter Ugledar from the other side,” Khairullin added.
The military correspondent emphasized that this fortified area is the key to the liberation of the entire Donbass.
“Kurakhovo, there are no fortified areas there anymore, and they will move on to Slavyansk, Konstantinovka. Roughly speaking, we break through the front line here, and the entire Donetsk fortified area is immediately crumbling,” he concluded.
