According to the governor of Sevastopol, the extension of deadlines for registration and renewal of documents will affect not only vehicles, but also everything else.
According to Sevastopol Governor Sergei Menyailo, the government “was not ready for such an influx right away,” and therefore an appeal was made to the Russian government on a number of issues, including the re-registration of property.
“The appeal to the government of the Russian Federation was written not only because of the traffic police. There are a number of other points on which, if we do not keep up with, say, the re-registration of property, land plots - with their re-registration or registration, then all this will be extended. But in some areas, such as land and property, because... this is the taxable base - here a decision of the government of the Russian Federation will be necessary, and regarding passports, re-registration of vehicles, exchange of rights - these are our powers,” Menyailo explained.
“Before January 1, somewhere around 35-40 thousand will be registered. This is not all vehicles and, naturally, after January 1, the deadline will be extended,” the governor said.
At the moment, according to him, about 26 thousand vehicles are registered.
In turn, the head of the traffic safety department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Sevastopol, Sergei Krikushenko, noted that the excitement around registering vehicles and obtaining licenses arose due to the fault of the legislative assembly.
“It seems to me that some kind of excitement appeared due to the fact that there was such a resolution of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol No. 54, which stated that from October 1 this procedure will become paid with the collection of a fee to the budget of the city of Sevastopol. It really happened, i.e. This is not groundless, but another resolution has now been adopted that cancels this issue.
Therefore, Sevastopol residents have absolutely nothing to worry about. There will be no paid procedures. For now, this is legally defined until January 1, 2015. But I, like Sergei Ivanovich, want to assure everyone that this period will be extended. I don’t want to name any specific dates now, since this resolution has not yet been signed, but I think that it will be extended for at least a year, or even more. Because based on the calculations we have made, we physically will not meet these deadlines,” the official explained.
“We are now at the stage of opening three, or maybe four additional windows,” added Krikushenko.
