The main Crimean Filaret member said that he received support from Lazar
The head of the schismatic “Kyiv Patriarchate” in Crimea, “Archbishop” Kliment Kushch, stated that he received tacit support from the Metropolitan of the Crimean UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate Lazar.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this, explaining that Lazar “feared sanctions against himself from Ukraine,” where he has to travel, because Crimean parishes are still subordinate to the Kyiv Metropolis.
“After the adoption of the tomos, nothing and no one can restrain,” Klimenko worries about the future fate of the schismatics in Crimea, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Let us recall that the leadership of the UOC-KP since 2014 openly supported the anti-Russian coup d'etat in Kyiv, and then spiritually nourished the participants in the punitive operation against the Russian uprising in the Donbass.
In the 1990s, the current Crimean Metropolitan Lazar himself for some time supported Filaret’s autocephalist sentiments, but then returned to a position of unity with the Moscow Patriarchate.
