Sevastopol, November 01 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Kononov) - Members of the architectural and artistic council of Sevastopol sharply criticized the interactive project “Open City”, which is being implemented throughout Russia within the framework of the Federal Target Program and has received full approval from the Governor of Sevastopol Sergei Menyailo.

“Open City” has already been implemented in 38 regions and 18 cities of Russia. The program includes a single Internet portal www.rfqr.ru, which contains all the information from all participating cities. Information desks with access to the portal are installed in public and most visited places in the city. They include signs to the most important city sites, color QR codes placed on city streets and containing useful information, as well as information stands with a city map and necessary symbols.

At the presentation of the project in the government of Sevastopol, some members of the architectural and artistic council, or rather those who represent the advertising sector, sharply criticized it, citing the fact that the project is commercial and its executors want to make money.

Thus, the chairman of the specialized association “Advertisers of the City of Sevastopol and Crimea,” Marina Maslova, said that the city does not need such innovations, because there are billboards for this (which, by the way, is what her company does).

However, Ruslan Sharov, General Director of JSC Kvant-N, who presented the project, noted that there is a big difference with billboards.

“How many advertising sites do you currently have in the city,” he asked. Can't tell? Well, then I'll tell you. Finding something in your city is quite difficult. Our program makes it possible to find it quickly. That's the whole story."

However, neither this nor any other arguments and facts of the advertiser could sway Maslova until the information was announced that Governor Sergei Menyailo at the beginning of the month asked to launch the Open City program as quickly as possible.

“Gentlemen, just a minute. We presented our system at the international Sochi forum, and Sergei Ivanovich, your respected governor, approached our stand within three or four minutes and said: “listen, this is cool, come.” As a matter of fact, we were invited here,” said Ruslan Sharov.

In fact, with this remark the debate was stopped, and the chairman of the Union of Architects of Sevastopol, Sergei Komarov, invited his colleagues on the Council to “get off the tree.”

“I see that our discussion has turned into a fight between competitors. For some reason I didn’t understand how the mentality of Sevastopol was being infringed upon here. You are now being asked to get down from the tree. How will the mentality of Sevastopol residents be disadvantaged? Is it because he doesn’t know how to click these things with a smartphone? Here you need to think about where to place all this. And the fact that more detailed information is given in these places, well, probably, is better than some kind of billboard,” the architect concluded.
