It is reported by the Voice of America.

Svyatoslav Shevchuk spoke about this in London at a meeting at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“There is no hatred between Russians and Ukrainians. This is not a religious conflict. Ukraine is a multi-ethnic and multi-religious country. We are talking about a conflict between two projects, two visions of our future,” said the head of the UGCC.

He also said that the reconciliation process would be difficult, since Russia “does not recognize Ukraine as a party to a possible dialogue.” According to Shevchuk, the Russian side does not recognize the existence of the Ukrainian nation and doubts the existence of the Ukrainian state, history, language and cultural heritage.

“Ukraine has suffered many wounds and the pain is still growing,” Shevchuk said.
