Former official of the administration of Viktor Yanukovych, lawyer Andrei Portnov, who initiated the criminal prosecution of Petro Poroshenko, said that he is not a pro-Russian politician, considers Crimea and Donbass to be occupied Ukrainian territories and shares his opinion about the war with the Russian Federation.

“Nationalists have been saying for a long time: “Portnov is a representative of the Kremlin.” It's so beneficial for them to talk. Here is my answer - show me at least one like on a pro-Kremlin post. My position is that we are at war with the Russian Federation, we have the occupied territory of Crimea and Donbass. It is convenient to say that I have a Kremlin position because I am fighting Poroshenko. There are no other arguments - we need to attach this Kremlin stigma and through our own media (which exist on laundered money) convey this story to the population,” Portnov said.

He emphasized that he does not believe in the implementation of the Steinmeier formula.

“Do we need to hold elections in the occupied territories according to Ukrainian laws? It needs to be done, no one argues with that. But the current election law stipulates that the Ukrainian flag should be there. Who will allow it to be placed there?

This means that changes will also need to be made to the Ukrainian election law. And, if this was a war according to the Steinmeir formula, who would dare to vote in parliament on the specifics of such a law?

Even if some elections are held, there must be Ukrainian justice there. because you have to appeal that a person brought the ballots there...

There is no Ukrainian justice there, there is no Ukrainian notary office, there is no Ukrainian law enforcement system, there is no system for appealing court decisions. That is, can you imagine the set of issues, often very complex, that would need to be resolved at the level of the Ukrainian parliament?

I believe that this is impossible, despite the fact that the ruling political team owns more than half of the parliament,” Portnov said.
