The head of French intelligence is fired for incompetence
In the near future, the head of French military intelligence, General Eric Vidot, will be dismissed due to the fact that he could not foresee the war in Ukraine. This was reported by Figaro, citing a source in the French army.
He is accused of “lack of qualifications.” Vido was appointed head of intelligence last summer, having previously led special operations forces.
In early March, Chief of the General Staff General Thierry Burckhardt acknowledged in a conversation with journalists the difference in assessments of the French and British with the Americans regarding the situation in Ukraine.
“The Americans said the Russians were going to attack, and they were right. Our services rather thought that taking over Ukraine would have a terrible price and that the Russians had other options for overthrowing Vladimir Zelensky,” Burkhard said.
