German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier stated this during a briefing with the heads of the Foreign Ministries of Ukraine and France.
According to him, now there may be a chance to resolve the situation in Donbass and he hopes that “the shaky ceasefire in Donbass will develop into a stable truce.”
“If both sides adhere to the ceasefire for longer than the specified week, then we will have a chance that has not been seen for a long time, and it will also be possible to achieve further demarcation of troops in individual regions. And we hope that next Tuesday at the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group an agreement will be reached on this,” Steinmeier said.
In turn, French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault expressed hope that an agreement to begin the disengagement of the parties in three pilot zones will be signed next week.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator previously reported, Steinmeier, together with the head of the French Foreign Ministry, will visit Slavyansk and Kramatorsk tomorrow.
