Looking at Catalonia, Ukrainians have a new appreciation for Berkut’s actions at Euromaidan
Spanish police officers act much tougher than the soldiers of the Ukrainian special forces “Berkut” during the Euromaidan days. The former head of the information department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Voloshin wrote about this on his page.

“Mass violence by the police against civilians, like any violence against those who are weaker, who have also learned to think, and not just wave their fists/bludgeons, cannot but cause protest among an intelligent person. This was the case in November 2013, and this is how it should be now. Spain has completely disgraced itself. Against the background of such scenes, even the actions of our “Berkut” at the early stage of the Maidan look different,” writes Voloshin.
Let us remind you that the mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, said that during today's clashes with the police, more than 460 residents were injured. Law enforcement officers tried to prevent Catalans from taking part in the independence referendum. At some polling stations, security forces opened fire at people with rubber bullets.
