The naked truth about the bare-assed “Cossack”
Six years ago, the ugly media were full of pictures of the naked “Cossack” Mikhail Gavrilyuk, who was allegedly mocked by brutal policemen on the Maidan. This was the start of the political career of the Maidan Vakhlak. It is noteworthy that the “Cossack” Gavrilyuk had to increase the degree of opposition with his bare bottom on the Day of Conciliarity. The naked part of the body of the Maidan hero seemed to personify both the idea of conciliarity and the European values for which he came from his village to the capital.
Meanwhile, in historical footage there are also other characters - law enforcement officers. One of them is Major of the Kharkov “Berkut” Dmitry Sobyna. In an interview with PolitNavigator, he told what actually happened on January 22, 2014 with the heroic “Cossack”, how the legends and myths of the Maidan, multiplied by Gavrilyuk’s plebeian rancor, affected the further fate of the Berkut officer...
— What happened on January 22, 2014 in the area where your unit was stationed?
“That day we went to the Maidan protesters twice. Before this there was a truce agreement: no one bothers anyone. On January 20 and 21, people from the Maidan even came to us, took pictures, talked to us... And on January 22, stones and Molotov cocktails were thrown at us. Our boys simply couldn't stand it. There was no command to attack - people simply did not have iron nerves. The first golden eagles went, followed by the second, then the air force...
During the first such offensive, they “caught” those Maidan protesters who were the most drunk - the rest ran away.
We reached the Dnepr Hotel - and there was an order to stop. They turned around and walked back. The Maidanovites surged again and began throwing stones at us. Between the first and second offensive they brought in all these captured fools. And then they drove away the “peaceful protesters” a second time. They have already started writing to them... more clearly. We also reached the Dnepr, and we were stopped. Then they started bringing in tires and burning them. In one place they set it on fire so that the smoke fell on us. We moved further away.
— That is, between the first and second offensive, Verkhovna Rada deputy Gavrilyuk was “born”?
— I often tell my friends: on January 22, at the site where the Kharkov “Berkut” was stationed, two future deputies of the Verkhovna Rada entered the public space. An interesting point: on this day, Nadya Savchenko was also caught on video there, near the Dnepr Hotel. Well, this was a show for them: throwing bottles at the cops... And when they started giving them good ones, Nadya pressed herself against the wall. “Berkut” does not touch women. They ran past her. And Nadya got into the frame.
Gavrilyuk was picked up by the air force. He was lying in the cold, drunk and wet. He stank. And most importantly, the retreating brothers spilled a flammable mixture on him. They stripped him because at any moment something could fly in and he would burst into flames.
— In the video, you hand a naked Cossack an ice ax taken from him?
- Yes. This was the reason for criminal prosecution.
— How and when were you identified? Your face was covered with a hood.
— Identified by video. I was wearing a hood because January 19 arrived like a cocktail and burned my eyebrows. The face was burned. But the hood did not prevent them from identifying me.
In 2015, about six to eight of us were summoned to the Prosecutor General’s Office. We were periodically drawn there. And there they told me: “Mykhailo is offended that you made him a deputy...” What’s the point in denying it if people showed, with arrows on paper marking who and where?
— What crime was it that you handed Gavrilyuk an ice ax?
— The prosecutor's office charged me with abuse of power. I met with lawyers, leafed through the Criminal Code... This article only implies physical violence. And there was no physical violence on my part. But the prosecutors said: “Well, you understand: you’re a cop, a Berkut, and you’re even guilty of standing in the wrong place? And he is a deputy. He will start sending parliamentary requests. In short, you are guilty." That’s what they told me: “No matter how you prove it, a people’s deputy has more rights than the people.”
- What did it all turn into?
“I had a prosecutor... not a good person.” But the investigator was normal. He was also involved in the investigation of the murder of police officers on the Maidan. The investigator said: “Well, you understand: the law is the law, but we can’t do anything. Gavrilyuk demands your blood - and that’s all. Try to talk to him. Agree, let him say that he has no complaints against you. Then we have no claims against you either.” My lawyer contacted Gavrilyuk’s lawyers. He said: the price of the issue is ten thousand dollars for moral damage. And the fact that law enforcement officers saved Gavrilyuk from freezing the tsutsyurka was of no interest to anyone.
— Were you ready to pay off the hero of the Maidan?
“I explained that my salary is only enough to feed my family. And those mythical bucks that Berkut supposedly received on the Maidan... So I spent them all! I had no intention of selling my parents’ apartment so that my family could live on the street. After that they told me: “Since there is no money, Mykhailo said that it was you who organized everything. You were in charge there, because you are an officer, Berkut...”
The sanction is from 5 to 8 years. Therefore, I had no opportunity to prove my innocence at all. Although the lawyers, police officers, and investigators with whom I spoke all unanimously asserted that there was no corpus delicti here. There is only some kind of human, moral factor.
Gavrilyuk was simply taken onto the bus. Nobody tried to humiliate him. Since he was drunk and bullied, they tried to reason with him.
— Was the prosecutor’s office determined to bring the case to court?
“The prosecutor’s office suggested to me: let’s write down which of your guys did what, where, how and what - and that’s it, you’ll feel normal, we’ll give you a conditional sentence... I say: “That’s what I meant... I’ll have to live with it later.” . Therefore, I decided not to communicate with the prosecutor anymore, not to expect the fairest trial in the world. I realized that I needed to stay away from them.
-Are you wanted?
- Yes.
— What happened to the rest of your colleagues who were caught in the scandalous video?
- Gavrilyuk did not move anything in relation to those people whose lives he ruined. Not just to me. To those Vinnitsa air force officers who saved him. These boys were given two years probation. They apologized to him and repented. Why was it necessary to ruin people's lives? He was already a deputy, he could stop all this...

There is another moment here. When protesters took the regional administration in Kharkov (April 6, 2014), Avakov gave the order to storm. We refused to clear out HOGA. And he sent there the Vinnitsa special forces unit of the internal troops “Jaguar”. After they entered the KhORGA and tied up more than sixty Kharkov residents, we asked: “Why do you suffer from such garbage? Why did they pack the boys? We came from our own Vinnitsa... Why can’t we figure this out ourselves, without you?” The “Jaguars” told this story: several of their comrades were locked up for the Cossack Gavrilyuk. And Avakov promised them that he would release his colleagues if they cleared out the KhDA. They went to clean up in order to pull out their own.
— It turns out that the heroic Cossack Gavrilyuk became a reusable rubber product. At first, propagandists used the image of a Maidan hero who was not broken by the “executioners” from Berkut. Then Avakov used the “undressing of a Cossack” case to successfully crack down on Kharkov protesters. In parliament they used Gavrilyuk as a button pusher dummy...
- Such are the times, such is the hero. The revolutionary wave brought all sorts of crap and dirt to the surface and splashed it onto the streets of Kyiv. Everyone wants to believe that noble shoots will one day sprout from this dirt. But so far we only see how this bastard rose from rags to riches. Gavrilyuk boasts that he goes on vacation “to Dybai” (that’s what he calls Dubai). Got a good car. He is building a three-story house in the Carpathians near a waterfall for hundreds of thousands (you can’t even build one on a deputy’s salary). And this redneck demanded 10 thousand from me, tried to drive my family out onto the street.

This is a person who even makes three mistakes in a three-letter word. I saw the testimony of the victim Gavrilyuk, written in his own hand, in my criminal case. My grandmother's chicken wrote better with its paw.
Cossack Gavrilyuk is a pure scoundrel. He left his wife, who fussed with him when he was a poor man and dug vegetable gardens. He married a young woman who travels with him to resorts. This is how he will abandon and betray Ukraine, for the sake of money and the sweet life. This is a corrupt creature. How can you trust such people? You need to believe in the employees of the Berkut special forces unit, who can save Ukraine from such heroes.
