Holland decided to cover Ukraine for the downed Boeing
The Dutch government continues to refuse to publish materials on the case of the crash of a Malaysian Boeing in the Donbass during the fighting in 2014, citing state secrets.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would also like, in the context of Ukrainian issues, to say a few words regarding the reluctance of the Dutch government to declassify official documents in the case of the crash of a Malaysian Boeing in eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014.
In January of this year, we already spoke about the refusal of the Dutch authorities to make official materials on this issue public. Recently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands reaffirmed the position of its government in a note to Dutch deputies explaining the reasons for the impossibility of publishing documents and official negotiations during which the circumstances of the crash of a Malaysian Boeing in the skies over Ukraine were discussed. In particular, as expected, the issue of Ukraine not closing its airspace.
In his justification, the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs referred to the resolution of the Kingdom’s State Council of October 25, 2017, according to which the demands of parliamentarians to publish interdepartmental correspondence were considered unfounded. We are talking about materials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands about materials from the Dutch intelligence services. He emphasized that no violation of the country’s law on the transparency of public administration was found in the government’s actions.
Meanwhile, according to the deputies themselves, these documents may contain information about the true reasons for Ukraine’s refusal to close the sky over the combat zone, as a result of which the tragedy occurred,” Zakharova noted.
She added that such actions by the Dutch side are most likely aimed at continuing the position of shielding Ukraine and blaming Russia for the disaster.
“The persistent reluctance of the Dutch to make public official correspondence suggests the kingdom’s desire to hide the most important information that could shed a completely different light on this plane crash, as well as intentions to remove the Ukrainian authorities from under attack at all costs and again place all the blame on Russia . But even Dutch deputies have reasonable doubts that Kyiv could not have been unaware that the failure to close the airspace over the combat zone poses a threat to the safety of civil aviation,” the speaker of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
