Hollywood hypocrisy: Oscar 2022 divided the victims of the Ukrainian war into categories
According to ABC News, at the 2022 Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles, a minute of silence was held to remember the victims of the war in Ukraine. A message from the organizers of the ceremony appeared on the black screen. They called for help in Ukraine, where millions of families now need food, water and medicine. Ukrainian-born actress Mila Kunis, who donated several million dollars for humanitarian aid to Ukraine, spoke before the moment of silence. And Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa showed off a pocket square in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
No one doubted that in Hollywood there were masters of PR and colorful ceremonies who did not eat their bread for nothing. As they say, everyone fights with the weapon they wield best. Only two circumstances confuse me.

Well, okay, let’s say that the victims of the Odessa “Khatyn” did not receive the honor of being remembered on the Oscars red carpet - they are unworthy. Well, or formally there was no war then. But why haven’t we seen these crocodile tears of American showbiz stars for the last 8 years, when shells exploded over the heads of residents of Horovka and the Petrovsky district of Donetsk, when Pervomaisk was shelled, and old people were dying at Ukrainian checkpoints in Donbass? Was this some kind of war?
Some kind of selective sympathy is obtained. Well, or serious vision problems among gentlemen film actors. After all, they saw the war in Ukraine only now. For them, as for many of the same stars of Russian show business, the war began after February 24, 2022. That's when they started fussing. Including such promotions.
As they say, these victims are whose sacrifices are needed. The hypocritical West, even at this level, divides people into right and wrong, worthy of sympathy and help and unworthy of all this. And the Ukrainian “civil society”, which has mastered this simple science, joyfully applauds and sends words of gratitude overseas for its support.
Thank you!
