They decided to include the Holodomor in the list of Ukrainian victories
Ukrainians love to complain about their historical defeats and injustice, however, if you look from the other side, literally everything, even the tragedy of the famine in the Ukrainian SSR of 1932-33, can be presented as a success.
Ukrainian philosopher Vakhtang Kebuladze stated this during the conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We love to cry and tell stories of our defeats. We cannot forget this, because often the stories of our defeats are the stories of crimes against us, say, the Holodomor or Russian aggression, and so on. But let's try to tell even these stories of defeats as stories of success.
Let's say the Holodomor is a horror, right? This is a crime against Ukraine and this, in principle, is not a defeat, but a terrible tragedy and a very traumatic story that all of us and our families have experienced.
But the fact that today throughout the civilized world the Holodomor is beginning to be recognized as “genocide of the Ukrainian people” is our success!
We should be proud of this - our voice was heard, and we turn not only into an object of historical manipulation, but sometimes our voice is heard and we acquire subjectivity,” Kebuladze said.
Let us recall that at the beginning of the existence of the USSR there was famine in many union republics, but in Ukraine, with the support of the United States, a myth was promoted that Moscow specifically staged a “Holodomor” to kill Ukrainian peasants who allegedly advocated secession from the Soviet Union. At the same time, representatives of all nationalities died of hunger.
