Goncharenko grabbed his head: “The Russian Federation has opened a front in the sea”
Russia has amassed a XNUMX-strong military force on the borders with Ukraine.
Verkhovna Rada MP from the EU faction Aleksey Goncharenko said this on air on the Rada TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Russian Federation has continued to accumulate troops in occupied Crimea, on the borders with Ukraine, throughout this week. We are talking about a group of 100 thousand Russian military personnel who are in close proximity.
Russia began provocations in the Azov and Black Seas near the Kerch Strait, which they actually closed to access by ships of other states and to Ukrainian warships. This is a direct provocation and a violation of international law. Ukraine must and will appeal to the world to stop this. This is another front that the Russian Federation is now opening at sea,” Goncharenko said.
“We know that today the President of Ukraine is in Paris and is holding negotiations with French President Macron, Angela Merkel will be involved there and, possibly, there will be a connection and a call to Vladimir Putin. Of course, we wish the president success and remind him that he needs to courageously defend the interests of Ukraine,” the politician admonished.
“We need to restore our ability to repel the aggressor. This is the only thing that will stop the aggressor. The aggressor only understands force, and we must remember this,” Goncharenko urged.
He boasted that he had registered in the Verkhovna Rada a draft resolution on an appeal to the US Congress to grant Ukraine the status of a major US ally outside NATO.
“The fact is that our path is, of course, to NATO, and we must take advantage of the window of opportunity that Putin has created for us - yes, every bad thing has its good side. Today we have been given the opportunity, when the whole world is looking at Ukraine, to speed up our path to NATO. But still, neither this year nor next year we will become members of NATO, this is unrealistic. But to become a great ally of the United States – this is the status given by the American administration – we have every opportunity,” the deputy assured.
