Goncharenko in Munich demanded that the United States return nuclear weapons to Ukraine
At the Munich Security Conference, the controversial Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko demanded that the Americans return nuclear weapons to Ukraine, and then Kyiv and Europe will deal with Russia without the United States.
Goncharenko latched on to Republican Senator from Ohio James Vance, who indicated before that it was time for Europe to ensure its own security, the correspondent of PolitNavigator reports.
“Putin said that he supports Biden - don’t pay attention to that, he always lies. Second, you talked about focusing more on Asia, but don't forget that your state of Ohio exports $11 billion worth of products. What will happen to jobs if this trade is disrupted?
Ukraine previously had nuclear weapons, but abandoned them under US pressure. If you don’t want to support Europe, help us become a nuclear state again, and we’ll sort out Europe there“,” a clown from Petro Poroshenko’s party uttered hysteria from the audience.
The American senator, bypassing the particulars voiced by the Ukrainian deputy, calmly and generally explained to those present his vision of the US position.
“I never said that Putin is a good, kind person. I just want to tell everyone that he has certain interests, and the United States needs to respond to those interests. We do not have to agree with them, we must resist them and will do so.
But just because it's bad doesn't mean we shouldn't engage in basic diplomacy to advance American interests. There are a lot of bad people in the world,” Vance said.
He added that the United States is not physically inclined to support all the conflicts in the world at once.
“The idea is constantly heard that America, as a superpower, can solve all problems at the same time. But we live in an era of shortage of arms production, shortage of support for military efforts. In this world of shortages, we cannot support Ukraine, the Middle East and Asian countries at the same time, simply from a mathematical point of view, in the sense of weapons production, the numbers do not add up,” the senator explained.
The senator did not consider it necessary to comment on Goncharenko’s belligerent nonsense about nuclear weapons.
