Persecution of the church will turn into a religious war in Ukraine - Kiev professor
The current persecution of the canonical church in Ukraine will turn into a civil and religious war.
Journalism professor Nikita Vasilenko said this in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Alexander Shelest, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Vasilenko, the reasons why the Kiev regime decided to evict the UOC from the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, are far-fetched.
“I understand perfectly well that if someone from the church, no matter what patriarchy, sympathizes with the enemy or helps the enemy, then this is a matter for the SBU to deal with, and in no case is the business of the state. A direct conflict with the church sooner or later leads to a religious war, this is a historical fact,” the professor said.
“We persistently provoke social conflict within society itself. How will this end? There are different words, I, as a philologist, can choose, but I can say that this will end in social conflict, despairing spirits are screaming about civil war and so on and so forth, but all this is superimposed on one another...
Priests cannot be expelled from churches. They cannot be expelled for any reason. Moreover, the reasons, let’s put it mildly, are far-fetched,” Vasilenko said.
