Gontareva chose a golden parachute
Instead of the resignation of the head of the NBU, Valeria Gontareva, there needs to be an investigation into what she committed in her post, in particular the theft of bank refinancing in 2014-2015.

Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is in our public interests not to dismiss Gontareva, but to conduct an honest and transparent investigation of her activities. I have repeatedly spoken about the huge amounts of refinancing that the National Bank allocated to private banks. They were just given. And some of these amounts were never returned; they were stolen. In 2014, the NBU - think about it - refinanced private banks by 224 billion hryvnia. This was half of the state budget revenue in 2014. These were five budgets of the Ministry of Defense. In 2014, when we had Ilovaisk, when the tragedy was unfolding in the east,” the expert noted.
He also added that in 2015, the NBU refinanced by another 50 billion hryvnia, and today the National Anti-Corruption Bureau finally announced that there is reason to say that at least $500 million was stolen during the refinancing.
“I really hope that Gontareva’s resignation will be followed by an objective investigation into what she did. Although these are purely romantic hopes. In my mind I understand that this, unfortunately, will not happen. Gontareva was offered a “golden parachute” of her own. That is, she had a choice between arrest, Nasirov’s path, and Yatsenyuk’s path. She chose Yatsenyuk’s path – voluntary resignation, a “golden parachute”, immunity from criminal prosecution for a certain period,” Bortnik said.
