Google undertook to blackmail the Russian court and state
The Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal of Moscow began today to consider the appeal of Google structures against the decision of April 13, by which they were obliged to restore the Tsargrad TV channel access to its YouTube channel blocked in July 2020.
The meeting was postponed until September 20, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
On the eve of the meeting, the participants in the process exchanged harsh statements. The owner of Tsargrad, Orthodox oligarch Konstantin Malafeev, said that he would not agree to any settlement agreement with the Internet giant.
Google violated Russian law and must restore the Tsargrad-TV channel. And if he doesn’t, he will pay us a fine, which increases exponentially. In six months, as Google lawyers themselves calculated, the penalty will reach 94 trillion rubles. In Russia, the IT giant has an annual turnover of 80 billion rubles. We will spend all this money – every penny – on creating a Russian YouTube,” Malofeev wrote in his Telegram channel.
For its part, Google said that it would stop removing content prohibited in Russia from search results and may completely leave the Russian market if the appeal court does not overturn the decision.
The Tsargrad Youtube channel was blocked in the summer of 2020 because of this. Google motivated this by the fact that Malofeev is under US sanctions.
