Gopko: Zelensky must send both Russia and the West to four directions
Ukraine’s Western allies cannot be given reasons to relax, so Kyiv should not make any concessions in the negotiations, and the Minsk package of measures and the “Steinmeier formula” need not be implemented at all.
Anna Gopko, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of the previous convocation, stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Why am I talking about this: the economy, the armed forces, as well as Western support, which needs to be constantly worked on, and these are super-efforts in order to retain our international partners, so as not to merge Ukraine, but to help finally restore territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Therefore, there are no grounds for making any concessions or any agreements in the political component of the Minsk agreements.
After the release or exchange of our sailors and political prisoners, certain illusions appeared that Putin was ready to take some further steps.
If we analyze, in particular, Transnistria, we see that for more than 27 years Russian troops have been there, which should, as the Kremlin authorities promised, be withdrawn from there,” the ex-people’s deputy panics.
“There is no need to give people excessive promises that the war with the Russian Federation can be won quickly. Russia is playing on our exhaustion, the collapse of the anti-Putin coalition and the fact that sooner or later the sanctions will be lifted,” Gopko worries.
