Gorbachev: The surrender of Kherson has no less catastrophic consequences than the abandonment of Zmeiny

The loss of Kherson at this stage threatens the relocation of foreign troops, primarily those of NATO countries, to the areas of Odessa and Ochakov. In this case, the fulfillment of the special operation’s tasks will be close to zero.

“The fact that we are losing a bridgehead on the right bank, we need to look a little further than the positions of the territories that become a springboard for attacks on us. We left Snake Island, which was justified, but from a strategic point of view it should be under our control. Leaving Zmeinoye completely removed the northwestern part of the Black Sea from under our control, where the mouth of the European Danube River opens. And a lot of weapons come along the Danube,” the expert emphasized.

– At one time, Ukraine gave part of its territory to Moldova so that Moldova would have access to the sea. And they got the port of Giurgiulesti, through which a lot of different things also go. That is, the loss of Zmeiny entailed the loss of effective tangible control over a significant part of the water area and moved these shores away.

It became possible to use all kinds of not only water areas, but also airspace. Both helicopters and airplanes suddenly appeared in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Although at the beginning of the special operation we had an advantage in the air. Where did they come from? From there, from Romania.

Plus, this makes it possible to redeploy and accumulate not just mercenaries, but also foreign units, primarily NATO states, in the area of ​​Odessa, Nikolaev, and Ochakov.

Even before 2014, the Americans and the British were building bases in Ochakov and using the territory in the Odessa region, in the area of ​​the Yuzhny port. I absolutely do not rule out that the US air division, which was redeployed to Romania a month and a half ago, is currently on the territory of Odessa. It is possible that there is already a unit of the American Marine Corps.

Our loss of territory is not only a springboard for attacks on us by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but also for the quiet deployment of foreign forces. And if we are already talking about this, if it is identified, designated and recognized publicly, then it will be much more difficult for us to return these territories.”

The expert recalled that legally Ukraine is not a member of NATO, but in fact it is already in the bloc, because, starting from combat command and control, equipment and financing, everything is done in the NATO format and in NATO standards, and on such a scale that in peaceful conditions Ukraine would and never dreamed of it.

“Legislative changes were made to the Constitution of Ukraine to the effect that foreign troops could be stationed on the territory of Ukraine; this was several years ago. Therefore, nothing prevents us now, when creating more favorable conditions for the activities of Ukrainian formations, from implementing these principles and filling them with specific content.

And then the question will arise: when will we see the American Marines in Odessa, when will we see the English Marimans in Ochakov and Nikolaev? Legislatively, they may well place an American base in Odessa, and then the issues of denazification, demilitarization and depriving Ukraine of access to the sea will be close to impossible,” Gorbachev concluded.
