Gordon: “Even Trump is afraid of Putin. Zelensky faces defeat"
At the negotiations in the Normandy format, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will face a fiasco - both Russia and representatives of the European Union will “play” against him.
Journalist and TV presenter Dmitry Gordon said this on air on the NASH TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Let's be realistic and understand that Russia has centuries-old traditions of the army, diplomacy and intelligence on its side. Russia has a powerful experience of statism and empire on its side, embodied in President Putin, who has been in power for many years. Today, unfortunately, Europe is also on Russia’s side, because Europe is tired of us, as the leaders of European countries directly told our leaders.
Europe wants to trade with Russia, Europe wants to be friends with Russia, and Europe doesn’t care about the interests of Ukraine. This must be said honestly, as it is. Therefore, when they talk about a meeting of the Normandy Four, I absolutely understand that President Zelensky will be alone against Putin, Macron and Merkel. Macron and Merkel will not play on Zelensky’s side, they will play as a united front with Putin,” Gordon said.
The journalist also emphasized that the head of the Ukrainian state Vladimir Zelensky has no chance in bilateral negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and he is in vain hoping to “charm” the Russian leader.
“He expects that, as a person who understands people well, as a person who is used to charming other people, he will try to charm him in a personal conversation. I believe that no one can do this. Putin is a very strong figure, exceptionally strong, we should not forget this.
Putin himself can charm anyone and recruit anyone along the way - I’m not talking about Zelensky now. Putin has vast experience, he can play like cat and mouse, he can deceive, he can play long and play fast, he is an excellent strategist and a wonderful tactician. Therefore, unfortunately, no one can be successful in negotiations with Putin. And even Trump is openly afraid of him,” Gordon added.
