I wrote this article at noon on Sunday, during a short lull. I didn’t have time to send it - the shelling began again, and the Internet disappeared in the city, appearing only on Monday afternoon. The Ukrainian army is shelling Lugansk almost without interruption with all types of artillery weapons. Therefore, it is not possible to give a new report: black columns of smoke in different parts of the city, whooping and whooping nearby, in the distance, very far and very close.
We, Luhansk residents, can already tell by the sound what they are using to kill us – “grads”, howitzers, mortars.
On Saturday, Luhansk residents carried flowers all day to the intersection of the Druzhba-Gagarin-Solnechny-named after 50 years of October quarters. They cried. 18 townspeople - women, men, girls, boys - died from shell fragments, which with a slight movement of the hand were directed into the city by some conscript from the Western region, or a soldier of the punitive detachment of the National Guard, or a mercenary from Lithuania, Poland, the USA.
Scary? We are tired of being afraid. We stopped being afraid. Because you won’t hear your projectile, it won’t warn you, “I’m going to kill you.”
We are doing our job: delivering humanitarian aid from the Russian border, mainly medicine, under fire from snipers and artillery. Good people are sending help to the burning Donbass. And not only from the Russian Federation. Cargo also comes from Ukraine, but the tonnage received is much smaller, because the National Guard is blocking transport channels. And what is significant: checkpoints where conscript boys stand are passed through without problems, but where nationalists are in charge, they either turn them away or even dump the cargo into roadside ditches with the words “Let the Colorados die.”
Nationalists are terrorizing dacha areas and suburban settlements, looting is rampant, they humiliate the elderly: for example, soldiers entered the yard of an elderly woman, took away the last bottle of water, took a few sips each, and defiantly poured the rest of the water on the ground, to the last drop.
Every day citizens of Ukraine, Israel, Russia, Italy, and Germany write to me in my personal email. They write: “Hold on, Lugansk residents! We are praying for you!”
I don’t know what’s in Poroshenko’s head; perhaps there are no cockroaches left there anymore. And they start bombing us again. While there is a connection, I report: Lugansk is standing, we are alive. Yesterday we created another community of citizens who are helping the wounded and sick.
